Assess and Declutter: First things first, take a deep breath and assess the chaos. Empty out your closet completely and lay everything out in plain sight. This step allows you to see what you have and decide what to keep, donate, or toss. Be ruthless – if you haven't worn it in years, it's time to let it go! Even better if you can try it on, so many things I thought I loved until I looked in the mirror!
Target's Viral Bookshelf Now, let's talk about the star of the show – Target's viral bookshelf. The price is Unbelievable at $40!! This ingenious solution involves using affordable bookshelves from Target to create vertical storage space inside your closet. These bookshelves are not only functional but also add a touch of chic style to your space. Each one has adjustable shelves, so you can put the shelves in any spot you like. This makes it easy to organize your closet for exactly how YOU want. You could use an entire bookshelf just for shoes, or omit the shelves altogether and hang everything.
What to Buy:

Plan: Measure your space and figure out how many bookshelves will fit. I used 5 bookshelves and one Narrow shelf unit. Measurements are:

It was a bit of a puzzle figuring out what the most efficient use of space was, as the corners make it a challenge. On one side I was left with a space that was a little over 12 inches wide. I purchased two of these cube organizers and stacked them on top of eachother.

Installation: Once you've selected your bookshelf it's time to install them. Thankfully, Target's bookshelves are easy to assemble. Simply follow the instructions provided, and you'll have your shelves up in no time. Decide which bookcases are going to use shelves and which are going to be for hanging items. There are many diffferent type of rods you can use for hanging. I wanted wood for this closet so went to Home depot and bought these and had them cut down to size in the store. It’s free and exactly what I wanted. You will also need closet rod pole sockets. There are many to choice from, below is what I used. Whatever you do, DO NOT use the scres that come with the sockets. they will go all the way through the side of the booskshelf. 3/8 inch wood screws, #4 will be the size you want.
Hangers: The bookshelves are a but narrower than what a regular closet would be so you need to pay attention to the hanger size and the placement of the rod within the bookshelf. I used the kids hangers for all of my pants and sleeveless and short sleeve tops. They worked great. They are 14 inches wide. Be sure NOT to be the smaller baby hangers as they are too small. I used regular size hangers for my sweaters and long sleeve shirts. If you center the rod in the middle of the bookcase, the regular size hangers will not fit, make sure to move it forward towards the front. See pictures below for the placement I did.

Organization Tips: Now comes the fun part – organizing your newly transformed closet! Utilize the shelves to store folded clothes, shoes, handbags, and accessories. Consider using baskets or bins to corral smaller items and keep everything neat and tidy.
Maximize Space: Don't forget to maximize every inch of space in your closet. Utilize the top of the bookshelf for additional storage by adding decorative bins or boxes to store seasonal items or accessories you don't reach for often. There are many different sizes of shoe organizers that I used on the op of the bookshelves for jeans and hats. The one I have linked is the correct width, many are wider and won’t line up with your bookshelf.
Final Touches: Once everything has found its place, take a step back and admire your handiwork. Your once messy closet is now a clean, tidy, and organized space that you can be proud of. Now it’s time for your fun personal touches! I chose to add baskets for extra storage, a fun colorful rug and a boho braided pendant light!
